Bargained Employee FAQs

Q: I’m a bargaining unit employee and I’m participating in the strike, will I be paid?
A: No. Bargained employees who choose not to report to work will be placed on a leave of absence (LOA) beginning 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, September 22.
 • If your standard shift does not include Sunday, September 22, your last paycheck will be on Friday, September 27
 • If your standard shift includes Sunday, September 22, your last paycheck will be on Friday, October 4
 • Employees who choose not to report to work are not eligible for unemployment benefits in the state of Kansas

Q: I’m a bargaining unit employee and I’m participating in the strike, will I still have my benefits?
A:
All health care insurance (medical, dental and vision) benefits will end at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024. All other benefits end as of 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, September 22 including:
• Life Insurance
• Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
• Retirement benefits are impacted since calculations are based on hours worked or income earned including:
• The Cessna Pension calculation, the Beech RISP, the TSP match, and the TSP Plus will be affected

Q: Can I apply for a loan against my Textron Savings Plan while on a leave of absence?
A: No. Textron Savings Plan loan applications will not be accepted

Q: I’m a bargaining unit employee and I’m participating in the strike, can I use vacation or Earned Time Off (ETO)?
A:
No. Bargained employees who choose not to report to work will be placed on a leave of absence (LOA) beginning 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, September 22.

Q: I already had vacation scheduled, can I still use vacation or ETO time while on a leave of absence?
A: No.

Q: I’m a bargained employee on probation and participating in the strike:
A: Bargained employees who choose not to report to work will be placed on a leave of absence (LOA) beginning 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, September 22.

Bargained Employees returning to work FAQs

Q: I am a bargained employee reporting to work for the first time during the strike. What do I do? 
A: Bargained employees reporting for the first time should read the following below: 

1. By reporting to work, you return to active employee status that includes pay and benefits. 

2. Read the Guidelines for Crossing a Picket Line. To review the Summary of Injunction governing strike conduct at Textron Aviation locations, click here.

3. Refer to the Business Continuation Campus Maps for instructions on where to enter campus. 

4. Check in at a Security location noted on the campus maps closest to your normal work location.

5. Bring your Textron Aviation ID badge to work. 

Q: I'm a bargained employee, but I've previously reported to work during the strike. What do I need to do? 
A: By reporting to work, you have been returned to active employee status and do not need to check in at security. You may go directly to your work area. Please follow full instructions below.

2. Refer to the Business Continuation Campus Maps for instructions on where to enter campus. 

3. Bring your Textron Aviation ID badge to work. 

4. Report to your currently assigned work area. 

5. Your area leader will scan your badge and check you in.  

Q: I’m a bargained apprentice, should I report to work?
A: Bargained apprentices can choose to report to work and should follow these procedures:

  1. By reporting to work, you return to active employee status that includes pay and benefits.

A: Bargained employees who choose to report to work should follow these procedures:

Non-bargained Employee FAQs

Q: In the event of a strike, what is the schedule for work?
A: Employee schedules in the event of a strike are:
Sunday, September 22:
• 7th shift will report to work
• 8th shift will not report to work
• 3rd shift will not report to work, unless employees work at Interiors Manufacturing Facility (IMF)

Monday, September 23 Schedules for Textron Aviation West Campus,  East Campus and the Components Manufacturing Facility:
• Bargained employees reporting to work, reassigned employees, and employees supporting deliveries and production: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• All other employees, whether hourly or salaried: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Wichita Service Center
•  Bargained employees reporting to work, reassigned employees, and employees supporting service: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Textron Aviation Parts & Distribution (TAPD):
• Your TAPD leader will contact you

Interiors Manufacturing Facility (IMF) will continue normal hours of operation. 

Q: I am a reassigned SE or SNE employee reporting to work. Where do I go? 
A: 
You do not need to go to a check-in location. Go directly to your assigned work area. Your leader will scan your badge to check you in. Please read below for the complete check-in process.

2. Refer to the Business Continuation Campus Maps for instructions on where to enter campus. 
3. Check in at your assigned work location and have your leader check you in.

Q: I’m a salaried employee who has not been reassigned during the strike:
A: Salaried exempt (SE) and salaried non-exempt (SNE) employees who are not reassigned should follow these procedures:

Q: Who should not report to work during a strike?
A: High school interns and Project Life interns should not report to work during a strike.

Q: I’m a college intern, do I report to work? 
A: Yes, you may report to work. Call your manager for reporting instructions.  

Q: I work at Textron Aviation but not as a company employee. Should I go to work?
A: Leaders will provide report to work instructions to non-employees by Friday, September 20. Instructions may include:
• Non-employees may report to work on Monday, September 23, provided their leader is onsite 
• Non-employees will not report to work during a strike if their leader is not available
• Non-employees may work remotely if networked

Q: Will Textron Aviation Health Services be open during a strike?
A: Yes, Health Services at all campuses will be operational in the event of a strike as per the normal schedule:
• 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Beginning Monday, September 23, employees located at Interiors Manufacturing Facility (IMF), Textron Aviation Parts Distribution (TAPD) and Prospect Campus (P40) must call Health Services at 316-517-6632 for directions during a health services event

Q: I have a salaried exempt or salaried nonexempt new hire starting, should they report to campus during a strike?
A: Yes. If you are the supervisor of the new hire, you should advise the new hire on reporting instructions for the week of Monday, September 23 – Friday, September 27.

Q: I’m a salaried exempt or salaried nonexempt employee and scheduled for Textron Aviation training, do I still attend?
A:
Yes. Professional training will continue off-site unless otherwise indicated. Participants will be notified of any information related to training from People Development.

Q: Who do I call to report a security concern?
A: Textron Aviation Security can be reached at 316-517-6911.

New Employee or Candidate FAQs

Q: What if I have an interview scheduled on campus during a strike?
A: All interviews have shifted to virtual interviews. Contact your Textron Aviation Human Resources representative or supervisor with any questions.

Q: What if I’m scheduled for pre-employment testing during a strike?
A: Textron Aviation pre-employment testing will be performed off-site. Human Resources will contact you via e-mail with off-site location.

Q: If there is a strike, do I still report to orientation?
A: Yes. Refer to your onboarding information for orientation location on Monday, Sept. 23.
