COBRA FAQs

Q: Why did my Textron Aviation employer-sponsored health coverage end?
A: On September 30, employer-sponsored healthcare benefits ended for employees choosing not to report to work. Health coverage remains available to employees through Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) enrollment. Employees who report to work continue to receive their regular pay and benefits.

Q: What are COBRA benefits?
A: COBRA provides for temporary health care coverage for employees who choose to continue health coverage under certain circumstances such as voluntary job loss and other qualifying events.

Q: What are the 2024 COBRA rates I would pay to continue my Textron health coverage while I’m on strike?
A: See the table at the bottom of the page for 2024 COBRA rates.

Q: Why are the COBRA rates higher than my regular premiums?
A: Textron Aviation pays more than 70% of healthcare premium costs for employees eligible for benefits. By choosing not to report to work, you become responsible for the full cost if you elect coverage under COBRA.

Q: Can I change Textron health care plans when I enroll in COBRA?
A: COBRA provides employees the ability to continue the Textron health plan in which they were enrolled prior to the COBRA event. For additional questions, employees can call Fidelity at 1-866-698-9847.

Q: I am on strike and my Textron coverage ended September 30. How will I receive information about COBRA?
A: COBRA letters were mailed to the address listed on file.

Q: I have not yet received my COBRA letter and want to enroll. How do I proceed?
A: Employees choosing not to report to work who want to elect coverage under COBRA can call Fidelity at 1-866-698-9847 and follow the prompts to Benefits or visit their Fidelity NetBenefits account.
